Claudio was born and raised in Braga, Portugal where he completed his studies. He then went to Minho University where he earned a BA in European Languages and Literature (Portuguese and Spanish), followed by an MA in Teaching Spanish and Portuguese (Middle and Secondary Education) at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa.  He started his teaching career as a Spanish teacher in two Portuguese schools, and also teaching at a Language School,   He then embarked on his  international teacher career working first in Doha (Qatar) as a Spanish teacher at an IB World School, and then at another  IB World School in the UAE where he was also head football coach.   As an IB teacher he has done training both for Language A and for Language Ab Initio.   He has also published academic articles.   After four years in the Middle East, Claudio returned to Portugal where he continued his teaching  of Portuguese and Spanish at an IB World School in Portugal, and then as Head of Portuguese at another IB World School in Lisbon. Claudio has also supported students with their Extended Essays on The Role of Women in the Novels of Eça de Queirós; Post-Colonial Themes in Mia Couto’s Prose; Nature and Landscape in the Poetry of Alberto Caeiro; and Exploring the Symbolism in the Works of Camilo Castelo Branco.   Having taught IBDP Portuguese and Spanish at all levels, as well as having  taught online supporting IB SSST Lit A students, and also A-Level and IGCSE students, Claudio’s experience is ideal for our Spanish and Portuguese-speaking students.
