Ester is Italian and grew up and attended university in Florence.  She earned a degree in Italian Language and Literature at the University of Florence, followed by a Certificate to teach Italian as a Foreign Language at the University for Foreigners of Siena. During her University years she won an Erasmus grant to study German at Humboldt Universitaet of Berlin. She started working as a teacher of Italian in Prato, Italy. In 2006 she won four competitions sponsored by the Italian Foreign Office to become a teacher of Italian abroad.

That opportunity brought her to the UK where she taught Italian in a well-established British girls’ school and at a London university; for the past decade she has taught at two IB World Schools in the UK.  As an IB teacher she has taken part in several international professional development conferences and courses designed for IB educators on teaching Italian A and Theory of Knowledge, and she also holds a post of responsibility with the IBO.

Ester also has had an interest in music from a young age.  She has supervised IB Extended Essays on topics including Pirandello, Dante, Sylvia Plath, Manzoni amongst others. In addition to Italian and English, Ester is proficient in French and German. We are pleased that Ester is available to work with our IB students
