Maria grew up in Madrid and did her university studies at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid earning first a BA in Spanish Linguistics and Literature, with a year in Paris at the Sorbonne on an Erasmus Scholarship where she studied Spanish Civilisation including Latin American Studies.  She then earned an MA (with distinction) in Spanish as a Foreign Language),  and an MA in Publishing.  She also did training in advanced technology, and at Universidad Complutense she also earned a Certificado de Aptitud Pedagógico, (and later achieved Qualified Teacher Status in the UK).  Maria moved to the UK in 2008 to work as a Spanish assistant at Eton College and then taught at two boarding schools before moving to London to teach Spanish Acquisition to IBMYP and IBDP students at an IB World School, and where she is also Subject Leader and CAS Coordinator. She has also organised school residential trips to Spain and Africa.

 

Mari has done additional professional development in teaching in an iPad, Middle Leadership and Teaching Second-Language Students, as well as IB training in MYP Language Acquisition, Spanish B and Language and Literature. She is also a moderator for GCSE Spanish.  She has also done some work in translation and publishing.   Maria continues to live in London and she is happy to work with our Spanish Language B students.
