Dawei was raised in the north of China. He entered Wuhan University of Bioengineering, Hubei, China where he earned a BSc in Biological Engineering, Advanced Mathematics, Chinese Literature, Traditional Chinese. After graduating from University, he moved to the UK to continue his study of English language in Oxford where he earned an IELTS and Cambridge ESOL certificates. He then entered Kings College, University of London to study Biomedical Science, Scientific English, Academic English, English Literature Based Research, earning a Graduate Certificate. It was while he was in London that he started working in an IB World School teaching PYP, MYP Language and Literature and Language Acquisition, and DP Mandarin Language and Literature A, Mandarin Literature A and Mandarin B, and IB Literature A Self Taught. (He has also taught IGCSE Chinese.) During his years as an IB teacher he has undertaken IB training courses. Dawei is currently working with the OISE (Ontario Institute for Studies in Education) at the University of Windsor to earn the IB Certificate for Teaching and Learning, a Master’s Level Programme developed by the IBO for experienced teachers to gain this qualification. Dawei is now based in Greece.
He has a passion for educating students about the Chinese language and culture , using new technology and innovative methods of teaching. Dawei is currently editing an HSk2 Chinese textbook and video aimed at supporting Chinese students who are learning English and Chinese in preparation for further study abroad. He also supports SSST Chinese Language A students and also some of our younger Middle Years students.
