Carmelo Mancera is from Andalusia and studied at the University of Seville where he earned master’s degree in Hispanic Studies (Language and Literature) and a teaching qualification. His teaching career started in London, where he taught and coordinated Spanish at several schools including an IB World School, the predecessor to what is now the International School of London.  Much of his extensive experience is in teaching the International Baccalaureate courses, particularly Spanish Literature and Spanish B of the IB Diploma.

Carmelo has a passion for bilingual and multilingual education, which has guided his work throughout his career when he has undertaken a range of leadership and management roles. Carmelo has coordinated language departments and implemented the MYP and DP IBO programmes at different IB World Schools including Sotogrande International School (Spain) and Lyford Cay International School (Bahamas), Torrequebrada International School where he was also Head of Secondary. Carmelo is a teacher of Spanish and DP implementation Coordinator at an IB candidate school in Mallorca. Carmelo continues to work with the IBO in a variety of capacities with assignments in Europe, America and Australia.  In his free time he enjoys gardening, swimming, tennis and diving which took up when he lived in The Bahamas.   Carmelo has also supervised Extended Essays.
